why camera is not working
A camera is not working properly. When the camera is on you can see the day through the lens having an image that seems like it's in focus. But when you raise it up, it zooms in and becomes distorted. This can happen when the camera has been dropped or when a cable has been disconnected from its port.
Although it's generally easier to unplug and plug back into a device then trying to fix broken hardware, some cameras might require more rigorous procedures such as removing hardware pieces or replacing batteries.
There are several reasons for this but most may be attributed to damage done by water.

The camera's functions, settings and image quality may be affected by the water or moisture that has entered its interior. This could result from drops and sudden shocks when using it in hot weather or accidentally being submerged in water. The camera's exterior can also be affected however for instance if you happen to drop it into a pool of water and it lands on its side then over time the lens may begin to leak moisture instead of directing light out of its lens as before.
It is recommended to wipe off any dirt with an alcohol-soaked cloth before attempting to clean the camera because cleaning too vigorously could cause scratching. Before trying to take the camera apart, it is recommended that you remove the batteries and any memory cards that are in place.
To clean the camera more thoroughly it would also be recommended to remove the lid of the battery compartment on top of the camera. When you first notice that your camera is malfunctioning and not taking pictures as well as before, clean the lens and try using new batteries. If this does not work then proceed to open up your device by removing screws from its case.

If there is water inside then this may be drained out and cleaned up before reassembling. If the specific part does not go back together easily then you may have to replace it altogether.
On the off chance that you happen to have accidentally dropped your camera into water and it turns on, then before trying to turn it on again, remove the batteries and memory card. Also take caution not to power it on when it's still submerged in liquid as water damage is unlikely to be reversed.
The first step would be to clean up any remaining water from the device or camera. Then proceed from there and try taking pictures as well as other functions again.
In order to check for leaks of moisture or gas in the device, use a flashlight and take a look at each individual area of your device. You can also check to see if the screws need to be tightened then remove and tighten them. Finally check to see what has caused the problem by attaching all of your memory cards and taking a look at an image on your device.
If you are unable to fix the problem yourself, then take it in to an official repair shop or call the manufacturer's customer service number. They will be able to tell you whether or not they have parts for old models or if they can help you with any other questions that you may have.
